Every Child Matters
We are horrified by the recent discovery of the remains of 215 Indigenous children buried beneath the former Kamloops Indian Residential School.
All non-Indigenous Canadians, including us at PortaLaw, carry a collective responsibility for truth and reconciliation. In our practice, this means learning about trauma-informed lawyering, adapting our practice to avoid re-traumatization, and accommodating indigenous and other historically disenfranchised client groups to the best of our abilities.
If you can, we encourage you to donate to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society, the Kamloops Aboriginal Friendship Society or another Indigenous non-profit.
