Evelyn (she/her) is driven by compassion and a strong sense of righting any form of injustice. She believes that part of a lawyer’s duty is to empower people to overcome their own challenges.
Prior to joining PortaLaw, Evelyn practiced human rights law in Hong Kong for 13 years, her expertise straddling public law, family law, discrimination law and immigration law. She worked as Government Counsel in the Civil Litigation Unit of the Department of Justice and was Partner at a public interest law firm in Hong Kong, where she served mainly victims of sexual assault and sexual harassment, migrant workers, the LGBTQ+ community, children and refugees. Through this work, she proudly represented clients in several landmark cases in Hong Kong.
Evelyn’s passion for social justice goes back to her academic days. She obtained her Master of Laws (LL.M) at Harvard University concentrating on feminist jurisprudence.
Evelyn’s deep knowledge and passion in anti-discrimination are the foundation of her employment law practice. She has a unique and practical understanding of navigating clients through employment-related problems after having operated a law firm and managed its workforce. These elements of her background fit seamlessly into PortaLaw’s mission of providing respectful and dignified legal solutions to workplace challenges.
Evelyn believes in the importance of doing work which brings you joy, first and foremost in a safe and respectful environment. She can help clients who need legal advice in Chinese.
